Sustainability is more than just a trend. For us, it means taking responsibility - for nature, for our region, and for future generations. We live in a unique environment that deserves both protection and appreciation. That’s why we don’t just talk about sustainability - we act on behalf of it every single day. Through many steps both large and small, we ensure your holiday is as sustainable as possible.
Here’s how we do it:
The power of water
Our hydroelectric plants generate electricity for the entire valley - allowing our sustainable hotel in South Tyrol to rely proudly on 100% renewable energy. Isn’t it wonderful that the gentle sound of flowing water can be not only relaxing, but also environmentally friendly?
Let there be light – saved
You don’t have to sit in the dark for the sake of the planet - but we keep a close eye on our energy use and manage to save energy efficiently without sacrificing comfort – for a sustainable holiday you can feel good about.
Warmth from our forests
We’re proud bearers of service contract number 1 with our local cooperative, which operates 3 woodchip heating plants in the valley. The furthest distance our fuel travels is just 25 km, making us independent of the global market..
The source of sustainability
Water is life - and in Ultimo, a true treasure. From the deep springs and clear streams of the valley, we draw not only energy but also top-quality drinking water. Thanks to our modern water treatment system, we can offer our guests pure, great-tasting water directly from the region - without long transport routes or unnecessary packaging. Ultimo’s water is naturally soft and low in minerals - ideal for the body and a treat for the tastebuds. This helps us to promote our guests’ well-being while protecting the environment. Sustainable holidays that begin with every sip.
The taste of home
For us, great taste starts where roots run deep - in the local soil. That’s why we prioritise food from the Val d’Ultimo - fresh, seasonal, and produced with heart. Short transport routes mean not only fewer emissions but also greater transparency: we know where our ingredients come from, how they’re processed, and who is behind them. Every bite becomes a journey through our landscape - a conscious pleasure with a clear conscience.
Sustainability on the move
Electric vehicles aren’t just trendy - they’re of course environmentally friendly too. That’s why we especially welcome guests travelling by EV, and we’ve installed a charging station for your convenience
Culture from the heart
In Ultimo, tradition isn’t just history - it lives on. In the people, the customs, and the music. As your hosts, we carry this tradition forward with conviction: as active members of the St. Valburga brass band, we are deeply rooted in the cultural life of our valley. The sound of brass music is as much a part of village life here as community spirit, traditional craftsmanship, and festive costumes. Whether it’s the village fair, the cattle drive from the alpine pastures, or a local music gathering - tradition here isn’t staged, but lived with joy and pride. To us, culture is not a scheduled activity - it’s part of who we are. And it’s this authenticity that we want to share with our guests.
Spoilt for choice
Vegetarian dishes can be as exquisite as they are colourful. And they taste even better knowing they’re good for the environment - by reducing meat consumption and carefully selecting the origin of our ingredients.
Eco-Friendly to the very end
Even our waste isn’t simply thrown away - we approach it with great care and separate it conscientiously. Only in this way can even seemingly useless remnants be returned to the recycling process and given new life.
