There are over 30 mountain huts in the Val d'Ultimo-Alta Val di Non hiking area, one of the most unspoiled areas in all the Alps. From the valley bottom up to the highest peaks there are many different routes of varying degrees of difficulty for your hiking holidays in Val d'Ultimo. They range from comfortable, relaxing walks through pleasant alpine pastures, to higher paths, and to strenuous ascents of peaks. A 700-km network of well-marked hiking trails enables visitors to the mountains to reach their destination without any difficulty.

WE ARE KEEN WALKERS AND NATURE-LOVERS, WITH A DETAILED KNOWLEDGE OF THE VALLEY WHERE WE WERE BORN, AND WILL BE HAPPY TO ACCOMPANY YOU IN PERSON.

And when we stop for a well-earned rest in a mountain cabin, and enjoy a refreshing snack in good company and admire the splendid mountain landscape, Roland might very well entertain us by playing his accordion!

In both summer and winter, you can get up to the higher slopes quickly and comfortably by means of the Schwemmalm cable-car. During every season of the year, nature will amaze you with her splendour and colour as you explore the beautiful Alpine world around Merano. Flowers and wild herbs border the pathway. Black and red bilberries flourish in the woods, cows graze in emerald green meadows, and in winter the snow crunches beneath your feet at every step.

THE CULINARY HIGH-POINT OF THE YEAR

Our top chefs serve traditional Val d'Ultimo dishes in the most unusual places, both down in the valley and up in the mountains.

The "Ultner Genuss" food festival is held in both summer and winter, inviting you to go on a journey to explore the flavours of our valley. The owners of mountain restaurants sometimes cook on open fires along the ski slopes, while at other times the Schwemmalm cable car is transformed into a scenic restaurant. The focus of these gastronomic weeks is always on the preparation of fresh, seasonal dishes, which highlight the natural goodness of the Val d'Ultimo.
